José Cruz emphasised that Aubay wants people “who want to develop, who are willing to learn, who are not just technical experts, but who are capable of adding value, [who] are capable of interacting with clients”.

Founded in 1998, Aubay is a French IT consultancy firm with clients in sectors such as banking, insurance, transport, media and telecommunications. In Portugal, the operation began very quietly: “At the start we had just one client, so it was very difficult to make a name for Aubay at that time. Even today, what we see is significant growth in the early stages,” recalled José Cruz. Today, the group has a turnover of over 600 million euros, employs more than 9,000 people, and Portugal accounts for around 13% of its turnover.

The growth of the Portuguese operation has also been reflected in the evolution of the internal structure, which has grown from a very small team to around 150 people in the central organisation. Throughout this journey, the current CEO has taken on various responsibilities, ranging from roles as Business Manager to coordinating teams, operations, recruitment and business, until he reached the leadership of Aubay Portugal, an invitation he describes as a source of pride and great responsibility.



Expansion of operations in Portugal

In an interview with CNN Portugal, José Cruz highlighted the company’s culture as one of the pillars of its success: a culture of openness, feedback and development, which he aims to preserve and build upon. And he points out: “The size of the company, the flexibility adopted and the generational differences make it increasingly challenging to maintain this DNA, because any initiative that we want to reach everyone quickly becomes something huge and difficult to personalize. We believe we're still on the right track and providing a good experience for our people, but we're always aware that one size doesn't fit all and everything that entails."


Over the last few years, the company has implemented numerous initiatives aimed at attracting, motivating, developing and retaining talent. ### Sustainable Good Practices at Aubay
In addition to the 100% green energy plan, we have implemented several other best practices to ensure energy efficiency and sustainability in our offices:

1. Decoration with Light Colors: The use of light colors in office decoration helps to reflect and spread natural light, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day.
2. LED Lighting: All office lamps were replaced with LEDs, which are more efficient and longer-lasting, contributing to a significant reduction in electricity consumption.
3. Virtual Servers: The company uses virtual servers to make greater use of the resources of a physical server, reducing energy consumption and electronic waste.
4. Maintenance of Air Conditioning Filters: Regular cleaning of air conditioning filters ensures maximum equipment efficiency, resulting in lower energy consumption and a healthier working environment.
5. Regular Maintenance: Periodic maintenance is carried out on all equipment to detect and correct any energy anomalies, avoiding waste and ensuring the ideal performance of electrical systems.

From April 15th to 19th, Aubay celebrated Sustainable Mobility Week. During these days we encouraged our employees to adopt alternative and sustainable means of transport on their journey to work.
The idea was simple: swap the car for a bike, public transport, walking or carpooling and the response was positive!
 
Our Aubilous joined and shared their experiences, showing that small changes can make a big difference to the environment.
 
At Aubay we are committed to sustainability and continue to seek solutions that contribute to a greener, more responsible and better future.

 Sustainable Mobility Week at Aubay

After the success of 2021, with more than 450 entrants and almost 3500 kilometres covered, the PULSE by Aubay Virtual Race is back with a new charity mission: to help the Johnson Academy. 
Each kilometre covered will be worth €1, until the goal set for this race of 1200km is reached, which will be converted into a donation for the institution.

The second edition of the PULSE by Aubay Virtual Race will take place on 17, 18 and 19 May, registration is free and open to the entire community, with Aubay employees, family and friends able to take part.
The modalities available are 5Km and 10Km and can be done in running or walking format, at the location that is most convenient for the participants, who must record their exercise in an app for this purpose.

It is also possible to buy a race T-shirt, with or without personalisation, at the time of registration.


Aubay runs again for a good cause

2nd PULSE by Aubay Virtual Race

This recognition in terms of people management, which brings João Miguel Rodrigues together with seven other nominees from leading companies, is the result of choices made by the editorial board of Human Resources, based on the good people management practices, initiatives and policies of companies in Portugal, demonstrated and publicised over the last year.

The final choice is now up to the public, who will be able to vote until 17 May and choose their favourite for each of the 30 categories, to which the "Personality", "Career" and "Communication in People Management" awards will be added, for the presentation of 33 prizes on 4 June.

The Human Resources awards have a long tradition in Portugal and are organised by Human Resources magazine.

The Chief People Officer of Aubay Portugal, João Miguel Rodrigues, has been nominated for "SME Human Resources Director" in the Human Resources 2024 Awards.
